*Qualifications:          

 

     1. Possess license as Registered Nurse.

  1. Have experience working as a nurse, preferably in a school setting.
  2. Have knowledge of laws and codes involving the treatment and care of children and young adults.
  3. Have ability to read and interpret policies involving the treatment and care of children and young adults.
  4. Have the ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
  5. Have the ability to communicate clearly with students, faculty, parents, and other stakeholders.
  6. Possess ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Possess First Aid and CPR certification

 

Reports to:                  Building Principal and/or Nurse Supervisor

 

Job Description:          This individual will help ensure the prevention of illness and disability, and the early detection and correction of health problems. This person is responsible for administering medications, implementing health care plans, keeping records, and promoting student, staff, and community awareness of and participation in healthy behaviors.

 

Salary:                         $47,332 - $63,514 (based on 200 day annual contract, dependent on experience)

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Provides medical assistance to students, faculty members, parents, and other stakeholders.
  2. Administers medication as prescribed and in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
  3. Disseminates health education information to teachers, parents and students, and provide direct classroom instruction when needed.
  4. Makes appropriate health appraisals of students referred and provide health counseling to students and their parents when necessary.
  5. Provides vision, auditory and scoliosis screening of students in compliance with health screening mandates and conduct follow-up of all deficiencies by assisting parents in making plans for further examinations and correction.
  6. Keeps accurate records of activities at assigned schools and assist in establishing and maintaining necessary student health records.
  7. Records the results of health screenings and other significant health information in cumulative records.
  8. Provides emergency care for accidents and illnesses which occur at school.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
