Qualifications:

 

1.  Has LPN or RN license.

2.  Possesses current First Aid and CPR certification.

3.  Has previous nursing experience.

4.  Has knowledge of public health nursing as it applies to the public school system.

5.  Possesses such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable.

 

Performance Abilities:

 

1.  Administer medicines

2.  Maintains secure storage of all medications.

3.  Administers first aid as needed; oversees general health needs.

4.  Administers or assists with any treatment needed by students, including catherterizations, tube 

feedings, nebulizers, and screenings.

5.  Checks blood pressures and temperatures of staff and students as needed.

6.  Maintains infection control procedures.

7.  Maintains health records, which includes maintaining an accurate log of medication given daily and log of students seen and treatments given daily.

8.  Fills out necessary accident reports.

9.  Reports to principal any medical situations that might affect the overall wellbeing of individuals or the school as a whole.

10.  Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.

11.  Models and maintains high ethical standards.

12.  Performs other tasts consistent with the goals and objectives of this position as directed by supervisor.
