*Qualifications:
1. Hold a valid certificate for teaching Driver’s Education “Behind-the-Wheel.”
2. Have experience with high school “Behind-the-Wheel” instruction.
3. Have demonstrated ability to work with high school students.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Meets and instructs the students in assigned locations and at the designated times.
- Teaches on-road driver education skills based on the Driver Education Curriculum Guide in Virginia as assigned by the driver’s education teacher.
- Maintains accurate records of “Behind-the-Wheel” driver education activities as prescribed by the driver’s education teacher.
- Ensures the adequate supervision of students.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies.
- Communicates with students, guidance counselors, and parents concerning the progress of students.
- Reports all accidents and/or potential hazards to the building administration immediately, or as soon as possible.
- Notifies Transportation Coordinator of any maintenance issues involving the “Behind-the-Wheel” vehicle.
- Maintains licensure at the state and/or national level.
