Qualifications:            

 

    1.  Possesses a valid Virginia Teacher Certificate in any area.

  1. Possesses the knowledge and skills to operate a lab containing equipment that facilitates career investigation, including welding simulators, tabletop precision machining equipment, robotics equipment, and computer technology.
  1. Demonstrates enthusiasm for the teaching and learning process.
  2. Has knowledge of career clusters and pathways.
  3. Has professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, school personnel, and members of the community.
  4. Has at least a rudimentary knowledge of coding (preferred).

Job Description:          The Go-TEC (Career Connections/Investigations) teacher will teach career explorations to students in grades six through 8 as outlined in the Go-TEC curriculum.

 

Salary:                         Compensation according to teacher pay scale based on experience

 

Contract Status:          10-month teacher contract

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Utilize a variety of effective professional teaching techniques and methods for optimal learning.
  2. Develop and implement lesson plans and supplementary materials needed to accompany Go-TEC curriculum.
  3. Structures class so that instruction includes demonstrations, lectures, discussion, and student experiments.
  4. Assist students in identifying and demonstrating the relationship of personal interests, goals, and course planning as it relates to career choices.
  5. Assist students in updating career plans.
  6. Provide immediate supervision to all students enrolled in Go-TEC classes.
  7. Complete and/or assist with all reports/clerical work, including but not limited to grades, attendance, grant reports, and all accounts.
  8. Attend staff meeting, department meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.
  9. Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
  10. Recommend equipment and resources needed for the Go-TEC lab annually.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Evaluation:     Performance of this job will be evaluated according to division guidelines.
