Qualifications:            

1.  Be retired as an Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) with at least 20

     years of active duty.

2.  Be retired less than 3 years.

3.  Must meet Army/AJROTC height/weight/body fat standards (30% for males/36% for females)

4.  Must possess high standards of military bearing, appearance, and moral character.

5.  Have college degree from an accredited institution (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

6. Hold appropriate certification, such as Technical Professional License with endorsement in JROTC and JROTC Instructor Certification.

7.  Preferred—Have experience in supply, administration, drill experience; teaching experience; and experience working with youth groups. 

8.  Be approved by the U. S. Army Cadet Command.

Job Description:          The Army JROTC Senior Instructor will manage the entire Army JROTC program, which is designed to instill the values of

                                        citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility through education and mentoring in students in grades 9 through

                                        12.

 

Salary:                         Compensation according to teacher pay scale based on experience

 

Dress:                          JROTC instructors are required to wear their Army Service Uniform (retired grade) while performing AJROTC duties. Instructors are

                                       also required to meet and maintain Army uniform wear and grooming standards during their career as instructors.

 

Contract Status:          10-month teacher contract

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Assist the Army Senior Instructor with the JROTC program to ensure that the program meets all goals and objectives.
  2. Assist with teaching JROTC curriculum, particularly with the Leadership Education portion of the program including drill and ceremonies, principles of leadership and management, and communication skills.
  3. Assist in the classroom by giving and grading tests, giving career and performance counseling, and supervising Cadet activities.
  4. Participate in extracurricular assignments and duties as other teachers, such as homeroom, hall monitor, lunch duty, etc.
  5. Serve as Military Property Specialist and be responsible for uniforms and equipment as well as other administrative matters.
  6. Be involved in community relations.
  7. Serve as a liaison with other Army and civilian agencies and community groups.
  8. Assist with extensive extracurricular programs, such as a military ball, co-curricular competition, Cadet newspaper, drill team, honor guard, parades, flag raising/retreat ceremonies, presentation of awards, fund raising activities for the unit or charitable institutions, and rocket club.

 

 

Evaluation:     Performance of this job will be evaluated according to division guidelines.
