Qualifications:

1.  Possess knowledge of career and technical education.

2.  Hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in applicable field of study/education from an accredited college or university.

3.  Have evidence of high levels of organizational skills and the ability to work closely and effectively with students, parents,

     and colleagues.

4.  Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in order to deal with a diverse public.

5.  Have ability to form partnerships with business and industry.

6.  Have knowledge of basic computer applications and the technology skills to work productively in this position.

7.  Possess a valid driver's license with good driving record.

8.  Have experience in career counseling (preferred).

 

Performance Responsiblities:

1.  Establish partnerships with business and industry;

2.  Implement, supervise, and evaluate student interships and externships that match individual career goals and abilities;

3.  Provide opportunities for students to participate in apprenticeships or on-the-job training activities;

4.  Coordinate transportation for students participating in interships or apprenticeships;

5.  Assist students in developing individual career portfolios;

6.  Work with students to develop career plans;

7.  Work with students and their families to explore career alternatives available to them;

8.  Work with guidance counselors to coordinate a variety of events and programs (e.g. classroom presentations, career fairs, college visits, field trips, counselor in-services, self-esteem programs) for the purpose of supporting the smooth transition from middle school to high school to post-secondary training and/or employment;

9.  Prepare a wide variety of manual and electronic reports and materis (e.g. funding reports, brochures, mailers, intership logs) and maintain detailed records of program events;

10.  Facilitate service learning where applicable;

11.  Perform any other related duties as assigned by the school principal or other appropriate administrator.

 

Note:  This is a 12-month position.  Salary determined by experience (Based on Teacher Pay Scale)
