QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possess Associate’s Degree or ParaPro Exam Certification.
- Have demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Be highly qualified according to state guidelines.
- Be willing to participate in training as deemed necessary.
- Possess knowledge of band and/or music (preferred).
- Possess knowledge of overall operation of a band/music program (preferred).
- Possess such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Band Director, Principal
SALARY RANGE: On paraprofessional salary scale (depending on experience)
[Stipend--$1,500 for Associates degree/$3,000 for Bachelor’s degree)
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Band Instructional Aide/Paraprofessional will work under the direction of the band director in a collaborative setting to provide a well-organized, smooth functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the band/music program and available resource materials.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITLIES:
- Provides instructional support for the band director.
- Assists record keeping or other paper work.
- Helps prepare instructional materials.
- Performs clerical duties (word processing, duplicating, etc.).
- Communicates student progress to teacher.
- Cares for equipment and helps to keep the room organized, neat, and orderly.
- Participates in in-service and professional development opportunities as assigned.
- Supervises students as needed.
- Works with small groups when appropriate to facilitate the overall band program.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy.
