*Qualifications:          

 

     1.  Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in applicable field of study (such as psychology, special education, applied

          behavior analysis) from an accredited college or university.

     2.  Have ability to develop and communicate detailed behavior management plans with rationale for implementation     

          based on a functional behavior assessment.

     3.  Have ability to interpret statistical data in relation to behavioral scales.

  1. Be able to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
  2. Be able to listen effectively, facilitate meetings, monitor activities, and problem solve.
  3. Possess knowledge of relevant codes/laws/rules/regulations/ policies.

Preferred: Have teaching license and/or be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification.

 

 

The Behavior Specialist works to effect positive behavioral changes in students and to provide supportive interventions to students, staff, and families. The Behavior Specialist will be responsible for complying with Federal, State, County, and District policies, regulations, and procedures.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

 

  1. Administer programs and services for students with challenging behavior;
  2. Assist in developing interventions, functional behavior assessments and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective environment for students with challenging behaviors;
  3. Conduct workshops, training, in-service presentations, etc. in classroom management techniques and other topics for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with students with challenging behaviors;
  4. Collaborate with the public and mental health community for the purpose of supporting individual student development goals;
  5. Participate in a variety of meetings, workshops and committees for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to bring about positive changes in students with challenging behaviors;
  6. Gather, collate, classify, and report data;
  7. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the elementary school principal.

 

NOTE:  This position is a 10-month classroom position.

 

*If the candidate does not meet all the qualifications, the School Board retains the right to fill the position with the best qualified and appropriate candidate.
