1. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field preferred.
- Experience required, with preference given to candidates with experience working in a school division.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with school personnel and community members.
- High level of technology literacy.
- Knowledge of networking, Internet, e-mail systems, standard operating systems, voice/phone systems, educational technology, budget preparation, Internet filtering, and computer maintenance and repair.
- General knowledge of web design.
- Knowledge of VPSA, E-Rate, licensing agreements, SOL testing, Interactive Whiteboards, and PowerSchool preferred.
- Appropriate certifications preferred (CCNA, MCSE, etc.)
- Dell Warranty Service Technician Tier I and II certification preferred.

Job Description:
The IT Coordinator/Network Administrator oversees the daily operation of computer networks, including hardware/software support, training, and special projects; he/she manages the local area network to facilitate the use of technology in the division. This person will maintain and monitor all network components as well as troubleshoot and solve technology problems. This person will also assist in the repair of division systems, support both the teacher and student laptop initiatives, assist in providing end user support for all stakeholders, and make recommendations for improvements to the network. This person is expected to provide technical solutions that support sound educational practices and prepare the division Technology Plan. This person will provide input for developing IT budget, completing state reporting, and securing grant and grant reimbursements.
Supervises: IT Interns, IT technician, any IT service providers
Employment: 12 month contract
Evaluation: Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions for the evaluation of personnel
Starting Salary: $51,759
(NOTE: Experience calculated based on IT administrative positions held in a school setting only; FLSA exempt employee position)
Performance Responsibilities:
- Plans, designs, and implements data connectivity for local area network, both physical and virtual, and ensures remote connectivity.
- Installs and configures network equipment, including switches, UPT wiring, and servers.
- Manages changes to network systems and software, including the firewall, Internet filter, user accounts, E-mail, and VPN connection.
- Manages voice systems, including adding and changing phones, setting up voice mail, and ensuring working communications.
- Initiates research and development to investigate new technologies, to test new and beta software, and to explore alternative solutions.
- Provides end user support, such as diagnosing and solving teacher/staff problems, updating and re-imaging both desktop and laptop computers, and providing training.
- Performs routine maintenance on all technology equipment.
- Maintains LAN user documentation, including hardware-software applications, support logs, inventory, schematic diagrams, and other information.
- Maintains the integrity of the network by monitoring usage to ensure security of data and access privileges; by updating filtering system and anti-virus system; and by ensuring that backups of all information are completed.
- Establishes user profiles, file sharing, and access privileges.
- Maintains technology budget (in conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations as well as the Business Manager).
- Consults with vendors and clients for hardware/software products, services, and support; and makes recommendations to Superintendent or designee.
- Assists and provides support to county government as necessary.
- Responsible for completing local/state/federal reporting and completing annual Technology Plan.
- Participates in the long range planning for maintaining and enhancing not only the network but the instructional technology for the division.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
